This Coastal Brown bear sow, Ursus arctos, and her second year female cub where out on the tidal flats claming. The mother, an expert at claming, was teaching her young cub the art of it, but not always sharing in the catch. This cub did not fully master the skill of claming and wanted to rely on her mother to provide. As the mother caught another clam and was eating it this young let out a loud yell.
